Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of heroes who will split off from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might look out of place, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
First, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, assaulting the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a hostile location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their position as important members in the influential clan could enable the team enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Questers and Schemers parties.
Viewers can expect finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
